IELTS test should be computerised

IELTS is a very reputed test of English skills worldwide, however, it's pattern is still very old. Today is the generation of computers where almost every work is done with computers ranging from manufacturing to medical, commerce to arts etc. So, I was wondering why not IELTS tests should be made computerised. In my perspective, it will make the life very comfortable for the test takers.

Firstly, let us consider the listening section. It consists of fill in the blanks, some 2-3 words filling ups, image related puzzles, identifying objects, finding places on maps etc.  Almost all these things can be possibly done on a computer.

Secondly, for reading the section, there are a variety of questions such as advertisements, true/false/not-given ones, fill in the blanks, heading matching for a comprehension and so on. I do not see any of them to be impossible on a computer.

Lastly and most importantly, the writing sections have letters and essays, that can be quickly written with the keyboard instead of pen/pencil. A big plus point here will be for people whose handwriting is not very elegant.

To conclude, it will be a win-win situation for both side to make IELTS test computerised, the candidates will get good bands and tests can be quickly checked by computer software. I hope this blog may someday reach the creators of IELTS test and may persuade/influence them to some extent !
